Participant Information

The 2010 Chillin’ for Charity Polar Bear Swim will be held on Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 at 11:45am in Quad on the University Campus. Participants are required to check-in at the registration table in the southwest corner of CAB (near Pita Pit and Booster Juice) no later than 11:30 on Wednesday, November 14th. Please bring your completed pledge form & donations with you when you check-in, if you have not submitted them to the JDC West office prior to the event. There will be a designated, monitored area for you to leave your belongings while you participate in the event.

Participants will be called out individually or as groups as their “jump time” approaches. After “taking the plunge”, participants are encouraged to warm up in the hot tubs and participate in many of the other activities. Participants are also encouraged to interact with media and photographers.

Participants must collect their belongings from the monitored area in CAB no later than 1:00pm, when the event is officially over.


Participant Checklist
What to bring with you to the Polar Bear Swim:

  • Your completed pledge form and all donations. We will collect your donations and pledge forms at the registration desk on the day of the event. Please have all donations in a sealed, labeled envelope, if you have not already handed them in. You must check-in at the registration table no later than 11:30 on Wednesday, November 14th, 2012.
  • Your costume! All participants are encouraged to dress up in wacky, fun costumes as they take the plunge. Browse through the photos on our website for some great individual and group costume ideas. Be creative, there are prizes for the best-dressed participants!
  • A towel and dry clothing for after you jump. Although hot tubs and a sauna will be provided to warm up in, you will need a towel and clothing to change into once the event is over. There will be a secure, monitored area for you to leave your belongings while you participate in the event.
  • Your friends & family! Participants are strongly encouraged to invite friends and family to the event to share in the excitement. All participants will be notified of their scheduled “jump time” prior to the event to ensure family and friends don’t miss out on the fun. There will be a fenced off standing area, bleachers, music, red bull and more for everyone to enjoy.



Prizes and more!

Chillin' for Charity undoubtedly happens to support the United Way, but we also want to make it fun for you! We are giving prize packages to the persons who raise the highest amount of pledges. Cohort points will also be awarded for first year business students, as well as extra BUS 201 help for the top 10 BUS 201 teams who raise the most. 

ICE BREAKER SHAKER

This year we will be hosting a post-Chillin' party on November 16th, at The Pint, sponsored by Labatt. Tickets are $5, with all proceeds going direclty to The United Way. These tickets can be purchased by any JDC West executive, at the JDC West office, or in front of the BSA office from November 5-9. Tickets will also be available for purchase at Chillin' on November 14th.
